Potential Indications – Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease linked to the presence of white matter lesions associated with chronic inflammation leading to demyelination. Active and inflammatory lesions have been shown to accumulate iron.
Diagnosis is based on the use of MRI to visualise and qualify lesions by observing hypersignals and hyposignals. However, the correlation between the number of lesions, their type and the severity of symptoms remains difficult to establish. PET scans can be used to complete this diagnosis.
BIaaS can be used to visualise iron accumulation in lesions and to categorise them in terms of activity and evolution. BIaaS could also be used to characterise the central venous sign (CVS).
